CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabis sativa plant. Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a product that’s derived from cannabis. It’s a type of cannabinoid, which are the chemicals naturally found in marijuana plants. Even though it comes from marijuana plants, CBD doesn’t create a “high” effect or any form of intoxication — that’s caused by another cannabinoid, known as THC.
CBD oil contains CBD mixed with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or hemp seed oil. The bottled oil, called a tincture, is sold in various concentrations and can even be flavoured.
According to the UKNHSwebsite, “CBD is a chemical substance found in cannabis that has medical benefits.”
WHAT ARE CBD CAPSULES?
CBD capsules commonly come in the form of soft gel capsules. Within the soft gel capsules there will be CBD formulated within either hemp seed oil or MCT oil. In certain CBD capsules there are also specific flavonoids, terpene, sterols and polyphenols.
CBD capsules are typically taken twice a day, once in the morning and then again at night. 30mg CBD capsules are the most common dose, but this can range from 10mg - 30mg depending on who is manufacturing. The CBD content is not necessarily the best way to judge a CBD capsule as there are other factors, such as the quality of the CBD, the bioavailability of the carrier oil and how well formulated the capsules are.
CBD capsules are taken like any other tablet or capsule you would use, whether it be a prescription medication or a vitamin.
