Can CBD help fight the Covid-19 corona virus?
The immune system is the main defence against infections, diseases, and health issues. There are many factors that both positively and negatively affect the immune system.
The biggest question out there today is how CBD and medical cannabis may help of affect contracting or recovering from coronavirus.
There was a Facebook rumour that scientists found that cannabis can eliminate COVID-19. You should be aware there is no such research and no evidence what so ever. Facebook has become conduit for fake cures and conspiracy theories about coronavirus.
The real question is not if cannabis or CBD can help cure or treat COVID-19 but if cannabis and CBD can contribute to make the immune system stronger and if CBD anti-inflammatory properties may have a negative effect on the virus once you are infected.
CBD, cannabis, coronavirus and our immune system
Probably the best way we can support our immunity is staying active while we stay home for minimum 30 minutes a day and taking up a simple relaxation or meditation practice to decrease stress hormones.
Staying at home brings another risk of being too close to the refrigerator all day long, it is important to monitor what you eat and when you eat, eating too late at night makes your sleep worse and weaken your immune system. Melatonin, our sleep hormone made while we sleep can help healthy immune function too.
Try to avoid alcohol, fat food, sugar, milk products and white flower, all are known for raise your body inflammatory level. Keep a diet which is rich in micronutrients, zinc, and vitamin C, flavonoids like quercetin (in both cannabis and apples).
You can also add supplements, consider adding some adaptogen mushrooms, along with liposomal glutathione (not a direct immune boost but may help support the liver).
Even if you do everything ‘right’ you may still end up getting coronavirus, but the good news is that most people not in high risk groups will have a mild illness course and recoup at home. Some carriers may not even have any symptoms at all or even know they had it, which is why social distancing is so important, since asymptomatic transmission rates are thought to be quite high with coronavirus.
Keep smiling, these are tough times but in a few months it will all disappear, our strength in this era is our knowledge.
